Best of 2018 Personal Photographs by Myrtle Beach Photographer Michele Coleman

This is the first installment in my series of blogs showcasing my favorite images of 2018. These are personal images from my day to day life during the past year. I hope you enjoy.

The Myrtle Beach Skywheel

That day I took my Fuji xH1 and a prism downtown. So fun to experiment with different reflections you can get using a prism.

Good Vibes by the Boardwalk

Another cool Fuji & prism shot. I love the colors and the feeling I get when I look at this image.

Just Look Up

I like imagery that makes me feel small in the world. A super wide lens was perfect to create this image looking up at the tall trees.

Rainy Day Reflection

This picture is very moody and dark. Ironic that it was shot in a church parking lot. Sorta makes you wonder what's lurking behind those trees. We had a lot of rain here in 2018. I hope 2019 is a lot dryer!

Ethan's Silhouette

One afternoon I went out shooting with the intention of capturing cool shadows. My nephew Ethan is always up for venturing out with me so sometimes I add him to the shots. Like how this turned out. Shot on the side of a restaurant downtown Myrtle Beach.

Hippie Van

A shot from the 2017 Hippie Fest in Lake City, SC

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk at Daybreak

I believe I shot this the morning I helped shoot the Myrtle Beach Marathon. Probably my favorite boardwalk shot yet.

Docked at Georgetown Landing

One evening while driving to Charleston for a workshop, I stopped off at the Georgetown Landing and shot while the sun was setting. I was the only person there and it was great.

Huntington Beach Sunrise

Photographed just before shooting a sunrise wedding ceremony at Huntington Beach State Park. It was a gorgeous morning.

Angel Oak Tree in John's Island

I finally made it to see the Angel Oak Tree in 2018. It was vast and magnificent.

Myrtle Beach State Park Pier at Sunrise

I remember this capture, during a sunrise portrait session in July with my brother and his family. Glorious display in the sky!

Little Waves

Shot at Myrtle Beach State Park just after finishing up family beach portraits. My off camera light was still set up camera right and I got down low to create the perspective. I love photographing the movement of water. Something I should do more.

Wings over Myrtle Beach

US Navy Blue Angels flying during the 2018 Wings over Myrtle Beach Air Show. Kind of sad it's been canceled for this year.

Murrells Inlet Marsh at Sunset

I spend a lot of time near the marsh at Huntington Beach State Park. It's one of my happy places. This image is featured on The South Carolina Picture Project's website.

In Flight

I don't really know why I like images like this, I just do. I often like to observe how flocks of birds behave together.

Gnome Garden

I discovered the secret gnome and fairy path in Myrtle Beach in 2018, and it has now become one of my favorite walking spots too. I even made my own garden there.

Another Gorgeous Sunset Captured from Huntington Beach State Park

This image is featured on The South Carolina Picture Project's website.

Fire Performance at Broadway at the Beach

I love going to local events. Some friends and I attended this fire performance at BATB and I was glad I took my camera.

South Carolina Cotton Field

I always enjoy seeing the beautiful cotton fields further inland when I travel outside of the Myrtle Beach area. Had to stop off and shoot one evening.

Casey's last Visit to the Beach

This is my beloved Casey Drew, who passed away on November 19th. She was my best friend for 15 years. This picture, taken on her 15th birthday, October 20th. I still miss this little girl every single day.

Blurry Bottles

This was shot inside of the World Coke Museum in Atlanta.

Nights of A Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens

It has become tradition to attend this spectacular event in Murrells Inlet each year before Christmas.

Christmas in Surfside Beach

2018 marked the first year that the town of Surfside Beach hosted the event It's a Wonderful Life in Surfside Beach. I volunteered to capture the magic for the community. I love where I live.

If you took the time to look over these images and read my brief descriptions, thank you. I am passionate about photography not just for my career but also as a way of capturing my own life and adventures, and as a form of expression.

Coming soon, my favorite portrait and wedding shots of 2018! Stay tuned.

xoxo, Michele
