There is something completely magical about the Grand Strand at 6:05 AM. The air is still a bit cool, the beaches are blissfully quiet, and the light coming off the Atlantic Ocean is pure, golden perfection. It is truly the absolute best time of day for family portraits, especially when you are gathering the whole crew together during a summer vacation.
Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting up with a wonderful extended family at North Myrtle Beach for a sunrise session that perfectly captured the joy of a multi-generational getaway.
This sweet session brought together the proud grandparents, their two adult children, and their respective families. Getting everyone together in the same place at the same time is no small feat these days, making these milestone portraits incredibly special.
The heart and soul of the energy came from the two youngest family members: two adorable little boys, aged two and one.
Throughout the session, we made sure to capture a mix of everything. We started with the big, traditional group shot of all three generations—the one that will undoubtedly look stunning hanging on the living room wall. From there, we broke things down into smaller groups: just the grandparents with their grandbabies, individual portraits of each sibling’s family unit, a romantic shot of the couple, and some candid moments of the boys just being boys on the beach.
