There’s something truly timeless about gathering generations of family together for a portrait session — especially when it takes place along the beautiful shores and scenic marshes of Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Recently, I had the honor of photographing a very special session that included mom and dad, their college and teenage children, grandparents, the son’s fiancée and even the family dog "Tank." These sessions are always close to my heart because they celebrate legacy, connection, and the beauty of family in every stage of life.
I have had the pleasure of photographing this family before- back in 2022, at the same beach house.
We began the session on the beach, where the soft golden hour light cast a warm glow over the family. The breeze off the ocean brought natural movement to the portraits, especially in the candid moments filled with laughter and quiet smiles between grandparents and grandkids.
As the sun began to dip lower, we moved to a nearby marsh — one of my favorite hidden gems in Pawleys Island. Surrounded by lush grasses and reflective waters, we captured more intimate portraits of each couple and a few of the kids.
What made this session especially memorable was the joy and love that radiated from every family member. Whether it was a shared joke between brothers or a proud look from grandma, each frame told a story of connection that spans generations.
Sessions like this are a gentle reminder that time moves quickly, but photos can hold those fleeting moments still. It’s always an honor to help families preserve their legacy through professional photography — and Pawleys Island provides the perfect backdrop for it.
If you're looking to document your own family story — whether it's a vacation, milestone, or just time spent together — I’d love to help you create lasting memories at the beach and beyond.
