Professional headshot, business portrait photography and branding imagery are more important in today's business climate than ever before. They are essential in communicating a good image of your company.
Michele Coleman Photography specializes in providing headshots in the Myrtle Beach area and corporate portrait and event photography throughout the Grand Strand. With many years of experience, our aim is to create relaxed and approachable yet professional looking images of your staff.
We are able to capture headshots at our Myrtle Beach photography studio, outdoors and on- location. We can also provide portable equipment to achieve studio quality results in any location for companies who require we come on site and shoot their staff.
The Standard Closeup Type Headshot
Headshots are a head and shoulders photograph of the person (generally) looking at the camera. Most often these closer up shots are the ones that will be used for about/ meet the team sections of company websites, on business cards, and as social media profile pictures. Other uses can include graduate school applications, 8x10 prints for models and even brochures.
Closeups are generally done in studio but also on location when we bring our portable studio setup to you.
A little More than Just a Closeup
There are times when a headshot isn’t quite enough. Some marketing materials, editorial pieces, magazines or blogs may require a different type of portrait for a special feature or cover of a publication. Often these are ¾ (waist up) or full body photographs and usually have plenty of room for designers to add text or elements around the subject.
Here at Michele Coleman Photography, we include waist up shots in our standard headshot sessions. If full body images are needed, we do also provide those upon request from the client.
It's important for these particular types of images that we pose you in such a way that is flattering for your body and clothing and that we also always have your hands doing something that isn't too stiff or boring. After years of experience we know how to make you look your best.
Outdoors and On Location- When you want to Step it Up a Notch
Sometimes you want to create an image that has more personality than just a standard shot on a plain backdrop. This is where shooting on location or outdoors comes in. The location can be your office, somewhere in the town in which you work to show the community you love to serve, at a park or urban area that has a nice variety of colorful settings, or even at your home with your family or pet in some of the shots if you want something even more personal.
Team Group Photos
Showcasing your staff is important. You want to show clients that you have a team of dedicated and friendly professionals at their disposal. Group team portraits can be very valuable to your marketing materials. We shoot these in studio or on location when your group is larger.
Preparing for your Session
Think about the message you'd like to convey and dress to compliment that. You might want to wear a suit or your business may lend to a more casual and fun outfit. A few quick tips on clothing: Do wear solid colors and avoid busy patterns. Do wear colors that compliment your skin and eyes yet are not overbearing. Try to avoid wearing sleeveless tops or dresses. More skin in your portrait is distracting and can draw the viewers eyes from your face down to your shoulders and arms. For men, avoid shiny ties. Women should choose classic and subtle jewelry and avoid anything too blingy or flashy. Do not cut your or dye your hair right before your upcoming session. Ladies, for your makeup, go classic or hire a makeup artist to do it for you before the shoot. Don't overdue it or choose trendy looks that don't represent how you normally look.
Do you have a favorite side, a lazy eye or anything else you stress over? Tell us about it and let us pose you to minimize it so you feel and look your best.
Choosing a backdrop for your session in the studio is simple. We can choose the colors based on your outfit or we can incorporate specific branding colors to compliment your logo, website or overall brand feel. You can stay safe with a neutral color background like tan, grey, white or black or choose to be colorful with our wide range of options. For on location and outdoor sessions, we will choose the best backdrops based on color, lighting and simplicity.
